Purposes of Architecture and Urban Planning. Has always been believed that architecture is shelter, but I believe that architecture is something much bigger than that. For me, architecture, is based of the idea of shelter but expands in ways that they can create harmonic spaces in which one wants to live. I also believe that architecture is a means of expression, used for thousands of years; its main function has served as a refuge but has progressed so that it can express ideas, feelings and do so in such a way that creates beautiful structures.
Moreover, Urban Planning has been one of the newer races of recent times. This, as a career is responsible for designing entire cities. It is the art of making places. The urban planner seeks to create large spaces that are feasible for the coexistence of being human. Also provides processes that can achieve the successful development of the site.
In my opinion, an architect and urban planner in their careers do not differ in many respects. For me are very similar, the difference is that the architect designed a smaller scale than the urban planner. Writing 1. Architecture and Urban Planning are two careers that have more in common than we believe. Both of them have the ability to solve the same problem; the only difference is that they do it at different scales. An architect solves the problem in a structure, while an urban planner does it in a large scale (towns, villages, etc).
However, there are many similarities between them. An architect is able to design structures with help from the context on which they are located, while the urban planner is able to design cities depending on what the specifications for the project are.
In my opinion, Caracas is a city with very little urban work. I think this city has a diversity of architecture, but it was not well thought out as a city. It seems that it had been built without a plan as an urban city, in the present and the future.
